I have always prided myself on being a go, go, go type person. I found out last month how all of that can change in one quick moment. A regular morning of chores, one quick moment not thinking of the task at hand, a slipped gloved hand while coming down a ladder and my whole spring, and possibly summer has changed. I was lucky, it could've been worse. A fractured ankle, surgery and now several weeks into the recovery process. It is quite a humbling experience and quite a lesson in patience. I am thankful for a very skilled doctor overseeing my care, a wonderful husband who has been doing all the work for the last 6 weeks, along with taking wonderful care of me when I was confined to the couch, terrific kids who come to help when needed. I have never felt more useless in my life. I am thankful this year for our late spring, I did get out for a short time and with limited ability this weekend, but it felt good to get my hands dirty. I am hoping for just a couple more weeks before I can start walking. We will have to sit out the first market or two of the season. I am hoping to catch up with things by June. It has made for a challenging busy season for us, but I have faith it will all work out. I will never again take for granted each and every step I take and have learned to give full concentration to the task at hand.
