Is It Really Already May?
Finally, a nice round of rain for the garden and pasture. Now it looks like the heat is settling in. We participated in our first Farmers Market yesterday afternoon - what a busy day! We enjoyed getting a chance to meet some of the other vendors. The weather was beautiful, very warm, but we did have to fight the wind most of the afternoon - Thank goodness for tent weights. The attendance seemed very good for the first Market of the season. This Sunday looks to be a good day to do some butchering. The meat chickens are getting close - I think we may butcher about half of them, the largest ones anyway. It's quite the "production" getting all the equipment out, cleaned, and up and running. It sure is nice at the end of the day when the freezer is full of healthy, delicious food. My daughter is flying in to run the "Mini-Marathon" in Indianapolis this weekend. I'm looking forward to watching her run and catching up with her for a few hours while she is back in the Hoosier state. She has been running marathons for a few years now, but this will be her first chance to run the Country's "largest mini-marathon" in her own home state - Good luck! Gardening season is well on its way, looking at the future forecast, it appears all chances of frosty weather are now past. I'm hoping to get a few flowers out in the next couple days. I planted several pepper plants the other day and will be trying to get tomato plants in today. I hope for all of you that spring is settling in, in your part of the country and that you are enjoying a chance to get out and get your hands dirty doing some planting. Happy Gardening!
